The History of Dating

$27.00

Who knew that ancient pickup lines were as cheesy as today’s?!  This zany romp through history is a fun, fast-paced look at the woes and wonders of dating through the ages.

Professor Curio — with the help of his spirited partner, Professor Amoré — leads the audience on a chronological journey through time from early nomads and cavemen and women all the way to computer dating in the twenty-first century!  With stops at ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian civilizations, then hitting Medieval and Colonial times, the scholarly hosts lead the audience through more modern decades like the Roaring 20s and the Nifty 50s.  Full of fun scenes, crazy characters, sight gags, and physical comedy, you’ll especially love the breakup via 80s mixtape and the grand finale speed-dating-themed recap!

Seats & Space
Seating options consist of carefully curated vintage couches, sofas, side chairs, and more comfort than you'll find at any other theater in the region.
  • Early Bird General Admission = Pick this for the cheapest price... we are rewarding folks for buying early... you'll still have your choice of non-reserved couches, arm chairs, and cabaret style upright chairs with small tables.
  • General Admission = The same as above, but normal price. ;-)
  • Dinner and a Show = This option gets you reservations at Goldfinch Tap & Eatery (next door to the theater) for 6:30 and reserved seats for the show.  Enjoy a great meal and don't worry about getting to the theater early.

The audience space is thoughtfully arranged to make sure patrons are as comfortable in Giving Tree as they are in their own homes. Although more seats could be installed to accommodate larger audiences, Giving Tree is focused on seating quality vs. quantity, and limiting availability to place more comfortable “non-traditional” seating.

Contact

We do not have regular hours that Giving Tree Theater will be open.  However, you can always contact us by email at info@givingtreetheater.com or by phone at 319-536-0257 (if the phone isn't answered please leave a detailed message and we will get back to you as soon as possible.)  You can also send us a message on Facebook.  Thank you and we look forward to seeing you at the theater.
